Note March 18: As hasn’t sold yet, I had a full inspection done last week at a reputable car repair shop here in Tarpon Springs. The following was done March 18 to make sure the new owner has no disappointments.
New choke cable, carb rebuilt, new rubber line from fuel pump to carb. New air breather hose, new points, new engine and gearbox engine mounts ( basically thick rubber blocks), replaced brake fluid and bled brakes, new grease nipples, undercarriage and engine bay steam cleaned, new interior kick panels, new window felt, new lower door rubber.
This Morris was imported to USA in January 1959 and spent most of its life in Pennsylvania. In the past five years, a lot of work has been done to this mostly original British car. In the engine, new valves and seals, oil sump and oil pick up cleaned, rod bearing replaced, and clutch replaced.
The 948cc engine has plenty of power and the gearbox is very quiet for one of these cars. Other work includes, new brake hoses and cylinders, additional padding for comfort to the front seats, new door trim and new elastic support straps to the drivers seat also. The rear bumper and overriders were rechromed, new and correct windshield rubber seal installed, ( previous one had the chrome trim and it shouldn’t for 1958), replacement ignition coil, plugs, wires, trunk hinges, heater plumbing ( by the way the Smiths heater works great,) a new convertible top, new gas tank and fuel line, new and correct SU fuel pump with points, new and complete exhaust, new choke cable, new internal mirror, new battery terminals and wires, lots of replacement rubber seals, including lower door seals, front and rear light seals, trunk and hood seals, rear bumper overrider seals, and gearbox oil filler cap seal. The tires have plenty of life left in them. The car also received a paint job and replacement rear floor pans a few years back. Mileage is believed to be accurate. The chassis number checks out showing it as an early 1958 model right hand drive built for export with synthetic material trim and grey paint. The dash retains the original grey paint.
